Our community suffers a tremendous loss with the passing of Patrick Burns. A soulful generous painter and friend, his fluid open character made space for mutual understanding, an honest exchange of ideas, and an appreciation for our shared struggles and determination to make our experiences relevant through art. I loved hearing about his Southern Goth memories of growing up in Texas, the “mystery” of the veiled crucifixes during Lent, and his love/hate relationship for the Gulf Coast and it’s blessed/cursed nature/culture hybrid.
You will always remain part of our extended family through our memories and the work you’ve left behind. We’re going to miss you Patrick Burns. R.I.P.
